In response to Substack’s content and monetization policy I have decide to migrate to a new host — Ghost. I don’t want to be a part of a company that is taking a portion of my earnings while allowing some of the most vile people on the internet to take up space in their ecosystem.
The migration process will take some time, but it won’t have much of a noticeable effect on you and there’s nothing for you to do except to continue being an appreciated reader of this newsletter. You don’t have to change any payment details or e-mail settings or anything. I’ll be taking my time to migrate carefully so that you barely notice the change aside from, perhaps, an aesthetic refresh.
I’m not alone. Others are leaving, too, including Paris Marx, who has a good post on his departure. Ditto Modern Medieval. Brigitte Pellerin has a good rundown on the migration. If you want to know more about what’s going on, you can read Ken White’s piece on the whole thing.
I’ll be writing a few more posts here while I migrate. My usual, free Tuesday post will shift to Thursday this week, then I’ll be back on a regular schedule next week.
As always thanks for your support!
Dave
