This part: “And traditional conceptions of like and for are going to be conditioned by centuries of specific constructions of images of strength and relatability, which tend to privilege some (white, male; older, wealthier) over others (everyone else). But those constructions are neither universal nor immutable, so we have something to work with — just consider Wab Kinew in Manitoba, if you have any doubt.”
'But, the non-profit service agencies and advocates that have been handed or talked their way into the job of dealing with this are completely out of their league. We all are. Municipalities are caught in a catch 22. Do nothing and things get totally out of control or hand over millions of dollars to social service activists who appear accountable to no one and whose altruistic, good hearted nature is turning residential neighbourhoods and small business hubs into dark carnivals of chaos. Some of these advocates comes across like: F@ck you - deal with it- we know - you don’t - we’re benevolent - you’re selfish. The city can’t respond to this drug crisis with revenue from property taxes. Conservative politicians at the federal level are using this crisis to manipulate voters. Fear-tough on crime stuff. I suppose it’s smart politics, but its BS and they know it. It’s a problem unlike anything we’ve experienced and it’s going to take an honest discussion, between citizens in good faith. Political provocateurs with slick hair cuts, tough guy youtube rants and social media rage, need not apply.' https://trkingston.substack.com/p/download-this-doug-ford-the-drug
Well, voter turn-out has been low, likely because folks are busy and preoccupied with living. However, perhaps the difference at this time is the Trump-effect causing Canadians some focus and to rally around Canada. However, that reaction may just lead to more support for Ford as he seems to be 'fighting' Trump - which may not be the same as "being for me"?
How any thinking human being could look at Ford & Co.'s record and conclude that they "are for me" is absolutely strange. It is so obvious that Ford & Co. is not for you.
I think this is partially the problem. Ford is a politician that people could see themselves having a beer with. He gave out his personal number to voters. Who does that? By contrast, opposition candidates run on their records, or what they plan to do, but how often do we get to see who they really are? How often are they willing to expose who they are behind closed doors?

Yes Trump supporting Doug Ford is a problem but sadly enough people in the GTA love him and his MPPs.

I was shocked and horrified he won a second term, there’s not much chance of getting rid of him now. Are there even any contenders?
