The Adventure of the Mongol Rally (2012)
In 2012, me and four friends (two couples) raised several thousand dollars for charity and then drove 16,000 kilometres from London, England to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We crossed 17 countries over six weeks, met some of the kindest folks you'd ever want to meet, almost fell off a little mountain, and broke down a few times (mostly the van), before returning home to our jobs, "jobs," friends, and families. The good news: there was no bad news, the money we raised went to help out a lot of vulnerable individuals, the rally was the adventure of a lifetime, and the couples are still together (happily married, with kids). The other good news: the Mongol Rally was just the beginning of our adventures.
If you're thinking of doing the Rally or a similar trip, feel free to get in touch. I'd love to help if I can.
Below are some photos from the road.
